Powder

For this challenge I crushed pastel chalk and put it in small pieces of paper with paint marks on them. to me they resembled something scientific.

Wax

For this challenge I took a tea cup and broke it. I took different pieces and constructed is using wax.

Maps

For this Challenge I cut out countries off a map and pasted them on a canvas that was covered in floral print.

Wood

For this challenge I went outside and picked up twigs from the yard. I used thread and tied it around each twig in a different way. Unfortunately I left these pieces in S3 and they disappeared before I could take a picture of them.

Newspaper

For this challenge I wanted to do some geometric shapes. I cut out shapes in a newspaper and glued them to a white paper. I did not like the white color so I dyed each page using tea. I decided to push it further and added ink drops to some of the pages.

Holes

For this challenge I took clippings from a magazine of women and burnt holes into the page. This was my favorite challenge to do. I really like the unpredictable quality of the fire and was very pleased with the results

Final Project

For my final I decided to skew beauty. I used my "holes" quick challenge to inspire the project.

I knew that I wanted to have a nostalgic feel to it and wanted it to look almost like a wall in an old home. So I framed all of my works, with the exception of one. My main medium was fire. I used fire to skew the beauty of each piece and hung them on the wall.

Work Layout

This is the layout of all my final work. During the critique everyone thought that my work was nostalgic and  that I would take things out of context. I hadn't realized it until this critique that it was indeed what my work was about.
